(The products were entered under the developmental name of Guido's Gourmet Salsa, Guido's Salsa Verde and Guido's Fire Sauce. While our products were under development, market studies indicated a tendency on the part of some consumers to confuse Guido's name with Italian food products. Thus began our search for a more appropriate, less confusing name. . . and Sarchí was the winner!). Here are the results of the competition: Guido's Gourmet Salsa (Hot) - SECOND PLACE Guido's Salsa Verde - SECOND PLACE  The national competition was held in July at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Boca Raton, Florida. More than 600 products from over 80 manufacturers were vying for top prizes in specific categories split into various heat levels. The panel of more than 100 judges was comprised of a cross section of the specialty food industry with retailers, buyers, manufacturers and distributors casting their votes through a blind taste test. Food Distributor magazine (FDM) is a 39-year old, national publication headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. FDM is a leading publication in the specialty food industry and is read by over 24,000 specialty food retailers, food distributors, grocery chain food buyers and specialty food personnel each month.
