![]() The story of Sarchí salsa is really the story of guido Aguilar. Guido, (his name is pronounced with a "hard G"...NOT Gwee-doh...but Gee-doh!), came to Atlanta, Georgia in 1965 where he started El Mexicano, the city's first Mexican restaurant. He brought with him his new bride and a trunk full of dreams. "El Mex", as it soon came to be known by its burgeoning flock of regulars, was an immediate hit. Located as it was, just a half block from Atlanta's "Fabulous Fox Theater" (one of the last great movie palaces), it soon drew visiting celebrities and performers in addition to the locals. John Wayne, The Smothers Brothers, Paul Newman, Joann Woodward are just a few who visited El Mex and came under the spell of Guido's charm. Over the years more than two million customers have enjoyed Guido's Sarchí salsa. Scarcely a week would go by when someone, celebrity or "regular," wouldn't ask Guido to mix up a batch of his salsa so they could use it at a party, or just take it back home! These same people would invariably say, "Guido, you ought to bottle this stuff!"
Now, more than three decades later, El Mex has fallen victim to new construction, and is just a warm memory. Guido and his wife Dinora have become U. S. citizens...and grandparents! All we have left are memories...AND...Guido's Sarchí Salsa! Yes, Guido decided to bottle it.
This is the FRESHEST and FINEST salsa around! You only have to taste one mouthful to know why more than two million customers kept coming back for more! Sarchí salsa... it's what fresh salsa tastes like! |
